The Carolina Vipers!!!!

Last night, Jhett & Sterling played hockey at the Carolina Cyclones hockey game during the 1st intermission. They were so excited as time drew closer & closer. Before we left for the Civic Center, Jhett went into the bathroom to put on some cologne (Chaps). He said he had to do that because this was a big night!!! We got to the civic center, & went into the locker room & put all the gear in there. Then we sat down to watch the Cyclones play for a while. They told us we had 7 minutes to get them dressed. Well, that is an impossibility! Hockey is not like baseball where you throw on a hat, grab your glove, your cleats, & run. Let me just share with you all the gear....helmet, face guard, shoulder pads, chest protector, elbow pads, protective cup, jock strap, hockey pants, knee pads, shin guards, hockey leggings, ice skates, blade guards, hockey jersey, gloves, & finally the stick! Whew, just writing it makes me tired! It takes about 20 minutes to get one the boys dressed & ready to hit the ice! Emily works on one & I work on the other! Anyway, we headed to the locker room, a little early to get a head start. The other players came in shortly after. Their parents can't dress them in 7 minutes either!!! So we got them dressed, & they had to wait outside the gate, for the big event!!! All the little fellows looked scared to death! There was probably about 1000 people in attendance. And it was very LOUD! They skated out, & the announcer introduced them & shone a spotlight on them when he called out their name. It was so awesome. Here's a little play-by-play! "Ladies & gentlemen, please welcome your Carolina Vipers!!!!" The crowd started yelling! "Number 98, Jhett Martin, age 6!" The crowd cheers & whistles. "Number 99, Sterling Martin, age 5!" The crowd screams! Cameron falls down. They are skating around warming up. Two more players go down! They start the game. Coach Spence drops the puck! Game on! The crowd is yelling! Jhett goes down. Cameron fights Sterling for the puck. Cameron gets control of it. Cameron makes a goal! Face-off! Coach drops the puck. Sterling knocks Sarah down! Jhett gets the puck....Jhett passes to Cameron....Cameron's headed to the goal....Sterling steals the puck....Cole knocks Sterling down...Sterling is laying on the puck! Sarah gets it & passes it to Jhett....Jhett shoots for the goal...Austin blocked it! Rebound...Jhett trys again.....Jhett overshoots....3 players fall down....Sterling gets the puck....Sterling passes to Jhett...Jhett's headed toward the goal! Cameron comes in with a steal! Jhett falls down! The buzzer sounds! Hail Mary shot by Cameron! Cameron scores!!!! The crowd gets louder! Time is up! "Let's hear it for your Carolina Vipers!" The team comes off the ice, excited & hot! It was great! When they were coming off the ice, the visiting team, from Ohio, were waiting to come onto the ice, & they all high fived the little fellows, & said "Good game!" I think the boys thought that was the best! Jhett & Sterling have decided to play professional hockey! They have a long way to go! Good job, boys! Mama & Meana are proud of you!
